Youth Ministry has recalled the decision to dissolve a number of registered organisations in the Maldives.
The Ministry made an announcement on Thursday stating that they had decided on dissolving 1,989 organisations for failure to register their executive committees and submit financial reports over the past two years.
Maumoon Foundation and Volleyball Association of Maldives (VAM) have been listed among the organisations to be dissolved, garnering criticism towards the Ministry. Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof Tweeted on Thursday night that he found out about the decision from the media publications and the complaints received.
"The list includes some organisations that are active, as well as some national sports associations and clubs. I have received concerns and complaints regarding this and have advised to revise the list," Mahloof Tweeted.
Following that, Youth Ministry issued an announcement stating that the Ministry has recalled the decision to dissolve some organisations, citing administrative errors.
Youth Ministry's initial announcement stated that organisations will have the chance to appeal the decision to dissolve the organisations until 24th September 2023.
