The Democrats' presidential primary will be held on Friday, with online voting in islands with less than 20 party members, The Democrats have announced.

The Democrats official and Male' City Council's North Galolhu Councillor Mohamed Saif Fathih told 'One' on Thursday that the party will introduce an online portal for the primary tomorrow.

"We are looking into online voting options for islands with less than 20 members. We will have ballot boxes in islands with more membership," Saif said.

As only Hulhudhoo constituency MP Ilyas Labeeb submitted form for the primary, voting will be to decide whether the party supports Ilyas or not.

Voting will open from 1400hrs to 1800hrs on Friday.

Saif added that although voting is set to close at 1800hrs, depending on voter turnout, the deadline will be extended.

Members who sign up for The Democrats on Friday can vote in the primary as well.
