Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has commenced the construction of a 30-bed hospital in Thulhaadhoo.
The foundation stone of the hospital was laid on Monday by Health Minister Ahmed Naseem, MTCC's CEO Adam Azim and Thulhaadhoo MP Hisan Hussain, to commence the field work of this modern hospital.
Speaking at the ceremony, Azim said it was a happy day for the people of Thulhaadhoo. "MTCC is committed to completing the work on time. So far, MTCC has completed projects according to the given timeline", he said.
Azim added that the work on the Thulhaadhoo hospital will be completed within 18 month.
The project was awarded to MTCC by Health Ministry 2 March 2022 last year. The project worth MVR 114.50 million. The project will include a two-storey building with a service block and an accommodation block.
Thulhaadhoo, which has a population of more than 1,600, is now served by a health center built about 18 years ago.
