President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that we will see the presidential commissions working with the parliament very soon.

The President’s remarks came during the celebrations carried out by MDP to celebrate their historic majority win at the Parliamentary Election.

The President noted that citizens had reiterated their stance against corruption through the ballot box once again, and that the commissions which were created to investigate the deaths and corruption during the previous regime would now be granted the powers they require to function effectively. He added that their works will begin along with the parliament.

President Solih stressed that there was no room for people who did not intend to work for the betterment of the public, adding that his administration would not give the chance for people to only serve for their benefit.

The President sincerely thanked everyone who had worked in the campaign and shown their support to the MDP candidates, eventually getting them to a landmark win.

During the celebrations, former President and Mid-Mahchangolhi MP elect, Mohamed Nasheed also said that the citizens were the true winners and that the country was heading towards a beautiful “golden yellow” dawn.
