The Maldivian passport has been ranked 57th in the world passport rankings.
According to a report published by the Henley Passport Index Rankings, the Maldives was ranked 57th, while last year it was ranked 63rd in the rankings.
Maldivians can now travel to 91 countries without a visa. According to last year's report, Maldivians can travel to 89 countries without visas on their passports.
Henley Passport Index Rank this year crowned the Singaporean passport as the most powerful passport. Japan, which finished second last year, slipped to third in the rankings, preceeded by Germany, Italy and Spain.
Neighboring India has been ranked 80th. An Indian passport allows people to travel to 57 countries without a visa while Sri Lanka is ranked 95th and can travel to 41 countries without a visa.
Afghanistan is ranked 101st at the bottom of the rankings. The Afghan passport has access to only 27 countries without a visa.
