The state has decided not to record the testimony of MDA President and Meedhoo MP Ahmed Siyam Mohamed (Sun Siyam) and MDA Vice President Ali Mauroof in the case filed against former President Abdulla Yameen for money laundering and bribery in the sale of R. Fuggiri.

The state decided not to record their statements after they decided that they did not want to depose in the case.

Siyam and Mauroof are among the prosecution witnesses against President Yameen. In a letter addressed to the Criminal Court, they noted that they did not want to depose in the case.

In connection with the letter, Judge Ali Nadeem asked the state whether it would like to record their statements during the hearing. In its reply, the state's counsel said that the state has now decided not to record their statements.
