President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that the government's submarine cable will be connected next month, which will speed up the internet services and make it cheaper.
Speaking to the people of Vaavu Atoll Rakeedhoo during his campaign for the upcoming presidential elections, President Solih said that the Maldives needs to move forward and catch up with modern technology.
Noting that government services are being digitized to ensure easy access no matter where the service seeker is located, he said the cost of internet services has been reduced as promised in 2018.
He further said that the works are not going to stop just there, as efforts are being made to provide an even faster and cheaper service.
President Solih noted that "by mid-August, we will be able to transport the submarine cable from Marseille in France to Singapore, resulting in a cheaper and faster provision of internet services."
The President said that everything that was planned to be done is being done properly.
