President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that MDP will begin the Presidential Election with 100,000 votes.

Speaking at a meeting held at Kaafu Guraidhoo island as part of his three-island visit, the President said that the MDA and Adhaalath Party were with MDP in the recently held by-election of Guraidhoo constituency, adding that the three parties will come out in the Presidential Election together as well.

The President further stated that this is the coalition with the highest number of members contesting in an election in the country's history.

"Our aim is to start with 100,000 votes at the time of polling that day, and there is only a little bit more votes left to complete this. I am confident, it will be completed in Male' Atoll alone," he said.

The President said that Guraidhoo has always been an island that welcomed development, and the people of Guraidhoo have always been with development. Therefore, Guraidhoo has accepted the government's work for the development of the Maldives, he said.

"In the 2018 elections, I did not get a majority in this island. However, in the last parliamentary by-election, that scene has been changed. Today, this Guraidhoo is also of this colour, a section of the people who support this government, our coalition. This constituency has changed completely, Gulhi has changed, Guraidhoo has also changed, Maafushi has changed drastically," he said.
