Jumhooree Party (JP) leader Qasim Ibrahim has met with PPM/PNC coalition on the request from former president Yameen Abdul Qayoom.

The political leaders met for the first time on Tuesday at Qasim's Paradise Island Resort. The meeting was attended by PPM/PNC coalition leader Abdul Raheem Abdulla (Adhurey), Mahibadhoo MP Ahmed Tariq (Tom), Naifaru MP Ahmed Shiyam, Qasim Ibrahim, and PPM's former member Ahmed Nihan Hussain.

Following the meeting, Adhurey Tweeted that important discussions were held during the meeting although he did not provide any details.

Qasim contested against Yameen in 2013 and lost the first round to Yameen with a difference of 20,000 votes. The two leaders formed a coalition for the second round and won the elections with a 111,203 votes against MDP's 105,181 votes.

Although PPM and JP formed a coalition in 2013, the two parties have differing political ideologies and have since gone their separate ways.
