Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has granted permission to former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb, who has been convicted in the MMPRC corruption case, to travel abroad for medical treatment.
Adeeb was sentenced to 20 years in prison in connection with the MMPRC corruption case but remains under house arrest as part of a confession agreement with the state.
He was admitted to IGMH on Wednesday after he complained of uneasiness while under house arrest and was discharged on Sunday.
One Online has learned that he has since been allowed to leave the country by MCS, and has informed the Immigration Department about the same.
However, the exact date on which the permission was granted is not known.
Adeeb is expected to travel to Singapore for medical treatment. However, the correction did not say the exact date on which he is scheduled to leave the country.
