Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has signed a MOU with Malaysia’s Netherlands Maritime University College (NMUC) to train and educate MPL employees.
The MOU was signed by NMUC's Executive Chairman Dato’ Captain Razali Yaacob and CEO of MPL Shahid Ali, at a ceremony held at MPL's head office.
Speaking about the MOU, Shahid stated that MPL staff would have education and training opportunities in various fields. Shahid added that MPL staff can pursue programmes ranging from Foundation to postgraduate studies.
"With this MOU, staff would have the opportunity to partake in port operation training programmes," Shahid stated.
He added that MPL will also carry out consultancy work under this MOU. As such, MPL and NMUC will also conduct maritime research and develop the maritime sector business as well.
Shahid further added that the employees training with NMUC will be fully sponsored by MPL, and that employees pursuing research programmes will be funded jointly by MPL and NMUC.
Speaking at the ceremony, Data' Razali said this is a great opportunity to develop Maldivian maritime sector.
