The number of registered members in the main ruling party MDP and opposition PPM and JP has increased compared to all other parties, which have seen a decline in their membership numbers.

While a total of nine parties are currently registered with the EC, they had published their membership numbers by June 2023. As per the statistics, a total of 158,167 people are currently registered for a political party.

MDP remains as the largest party in the Maldives with 58,035 members, marking an increase of 375 members compared to February 2023.

While the membership numbers for MDP have increased, supporters of Speaker Mohamed Nasheed had recently formed 'The Democrats', which recruited a large number of MDP members.

Adhaalath Party: 9,595 members

Jumhooree Party: 22,705 members

PPM: 38,831 members

MDA: 10,227 members

MTD: 3,014 members

PNC: 3,139 members

MRM: 2,892 members

MNP: 9,729 members
