Opposition PPM/PNC has stated that their presidential candidate is former president Abdulla Yameen and that they do not want another candidate.
PPM/PNC made the remarks following an article published in 'Ocean Weekly' regarding a joint opposition candidate for the presidential elections this year.
The article stated that the opposition candidate is neither Yameen, nor Nasheed, but a joint-party candidate.
"What Ocean Weekly has published is not true. Our candidate is president Yameen and he was the first presidential candidate announced by a political party," Naifaru MP Ahmed Shiyam stated.
Shiyam, who sits in the joint party meetings have continued to reiterate that PPM/PNC coalition will not change their party policies.
Ali Azim, who represents 'The Democrats' however, has continuously stated that the joint parties purpose is to bring President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's tenure to an end.
As such, Ali Azim has reiterated that 'The Democrats' will do whatever it takes to bring the current administration's tenure to an end. However, he has not spoken on the presidential candidate's issue as of yet.
