Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has stated that there are no verified terrorist threats to the Maldives at the moment.

MNDF made the statement after One Online had questioned them regarding the matter, following travel advisories issued by the USA and the UK, regarding a potential terrorist threat.

The UK issued a global travel advisory on June 22nd, while the USA issued a travel advisory one day later on June 23rd.

The Media Official for MNDF confirmed that neither the UK or the USA had shared any information regarding any such terrorist threats, adding that there is no reason not to travel to the Maldives.

The USA had increased its alert level with the travel advisory and is now advising to exercise increased caution in the Maldives due to terrorism.
