Maldives National Football Team Coach Francesco Moriero has stated that Maldives' performance against Lebanon is as planned, adding that the country did not lose against Bangladesh due to his bad tactics.

Even though Maldives displayed a good performance during the match against Lebanon, Maldives lost 0-1. Even with this loss, Maldives still remains hopeful of a slot in the Semi-Finals of the SAFF Championship, if Bhutan wins the match against Bangladesh and a goal difference is accounted for.

However, if Bangladesh wins or draws against Bhutan, Maldives will be out of the championship. This will mark the first time the Maldives is out of the championship during the group stage of twos.

Speaking to the press after the match with Lebanon, Coach Moriero noted that the team had displayed a disciplined defense throughout the match.

He further stated that it was important to win against Bhutan, and added that the loss against Bangladesh was not due to bad tactics and had refused to acknowledge it as a failure./

With the win over Maldives, Lebanon has now secured a spot in the Smi-Finals, having topped the group as well.
