Football Association Maldives (FAM) President, Bassam Adeel Jaleel has acknowledged public concerns about the Maldives National Team and has decided to meet with journalists to answer pressing questions.
Even though Maldives won 0-2 against Bhutan in the first match of the SAFF Championship, the country lost 1-3 against Bangladesh and now faces a challenging path to the Semi-Finals. It depends on the outcome of the match against Lebanon and the results of the next match Bangladesh plays.
Maldives coach Francesco Moriero apologized to Maldivians before walking out of a press conference shortly after the team's loss against Bangladesh, prompting discussions of possible action against him by the FAM.
While FAM had previously stated that they will investigate the coach after the match against Lebanon, media pressure keeps building on FAM. Amid the mounting pressure and growing questions, FAM President Bassam sent a message to the media today.
Bassam noted that a press conference will be held on July 15th after the championship, highlighting that all questions will be answered.
Bassam had also acknowledged all existing concerns about the team and their performance. He however urged all to support the team and had also thanked media cooperation.
