Indian teacher working in Maldives who was accused of forging and selling academic certificates has been suspended from his job, Indian media reports.

Abin C. Raj was employed at Kalaafaanu School as an economics teacher. He was wanted under India's Interpol Blue Corner notice and has since been arrested upon arrival in India.

India's 'Kerala Kamudi' reported that Maldives has also cancelled his working permit. However, 'One' was unable to get a statement from Education Ministry regarding the issue as no one responded to calls.

According to Indian media, Abin was selling forged academic certificates for INR 200,000, equivalent to MVR 37,000.

Indian authorities began investigating him after he was found having forged a certificate for Kalinga University, India.
