Keeper Faisal has been ruled out of SAFF Championship 2023 due to a knee injury.

Faisal was injured during the recently concluded training camp in Japan.

A decision on the extent of Faisal's injury was taken today after further consultations in Colombo. The national team is currently in Sri Lanka where they are set to train for two days after their flight to India was cancelled.

Goalkeeper Naajihu of United Victory will replace Faisal as the replacement goalkeeper for Faisal.

National team’s manager Abdulla Shibau told media that Faisal will not be partaking in SAFF Championship due to his knee injury.

Faisal was injured during the training in Japan.

Faisal won the best player at 2018 SAFF Championship in 2018. He is currently with Maziya Sports Club.
