National Airline 'Maldivian' has commenced flights to B. Dharavandhoo after a 3-year hiatus.

The first Maldivian flight to Dharavandhoo landed on Thursday. The flight was welcomed at Dharavandhoo airport with cultural activities. Island Aviation's senior officials flew on the flight.

Dharavandhoo airport held a special ceremony on Thursday to mark the re-commencement of Maldivian flights.

Speaking at the ceremony, Island Aviation's General Manager, Commercial, Hamdhaan Mohamed said that Maldivian will use the new ATR aircrafts for the flights to Dharavandhoo. Scheduled flights will operate between Male' City and Dharavandhoo every day, Hamdhaan said. He added that by the end of the year, they will operate 3 scheduled flights daily between Male' City and Dharavandhoo.

Dharavandhoo airport is operated by Island Aviation. Maldivian flights to the airport were terminated in 2019.

Maldivian said that ticket prices are around MVR 1,125 but if purchased beforehand, customers can receive a discount between 5-15 percent. The cheapest fare would be MVR 840, Maldivian said.
