Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) said on Thursday that they have complete the foundation works on the social housing project, and the structural works on one tower.
The social housing project by the administration under the name 'Amaan' will be carried out in two phases. The project is being contracted to India's NBCC and JMC, and will include 2,000 housing units in 16 towers by each company. Each floor will have 8 apartments of three and two rooms.
Speaking to the media about the project, FDC's Business Development and Corporate Affairs Manager Ahmed Shamool Abdulla said on Thursday that the structural work has been completed on on of the towers.
"We completed the structural works on one of the towers last week and the finishing works are ongoing at present. Our aim is to complete the project as per the timeline," Shamool said.
JMC has completed 35% of the project while NBCC has completed 31% of the project.
Chief of Operations at FDC, Nashwa Hameed said that the towers will be completed by 2025, as opposed to the initial timeline of 2024. JMC will completed 8 of the 16 towers this year.
"JMC has completed 35% of the project and NBCC has completed 31% of the project. JMC's project will be completed by end of 2024 and NBCC will complete their project by early 2025," Nashwa said.
FDC said that this project consists of the most spacious housing units designed by the administration. FDC added that taking into consideration the previous housing projects by the administrations, these towers will include a spacious elevator that could fit a stretcher to transport patients.
Additionally, the units will also be equipped with fire blankets and fire extinguishers.
