Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Senate Member, Ahmed has left the party today.

Revealing that he had submitted the form to be removed from the party, Ghalib explained that there is no way to progress with the party as of now. He further added that he has resigned effective immediately from the senate and as the President of Kelaa Constituency.

Ghalib is the cousin of Malé City Mayor Mohamed Muizzu and the younger brother of Jumhooree Party Secretary General Ali Arif.

Ghalib had previously held the position of Vice President at the Vashafaru Island Council. Before joining PPM, he was part of JP.

While Ghalib has quit the party, differences in opinions within PPM are arising over who to support for the Presidency in case a situation comes where President Abdulla Yameen could not run for the election.
