Maldives Police Service has stated that the dead body found in the sea near Hulhumale' Phase II is that of a Chinese expatriate worker.

The dead body was recovered in the sea near Hiyaa Tower 16 last Tuesday around 1756hrs. The man was wearing a black short sleeved t-shirt with a collar and black shorts with black shoes, police stated.

Police made a public appeal yesterday to help identify the body.

Police Tweeted on Thursday that the man has been identified as a 34-year-old worker on the Velana International Airport's new terminal development project.

The body did not have any injuries or suspicious bruising, police said.
