Islamic Ministry has contracted Noorahdheen Investment to build a mosque in Addu City Meedhoo that can accommodate 700 people.
The contract was signed at a ceremony held at Islamic Ministry on Wednesday by Minister Dr. Ahmed Zahir and Manager of Noorahdheen Investment, Abdullah Solih.
The ceremony was attended by Meedhoo constituency MP Rozaina Adam.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Zahir urged Noorahdheen Investment to finish the construction work on the mosque as per the Ministry's requirement on time. He added that the Ministry will provide any and all needed support for the project.
MP Rozaina said that this would be the first mosque built in the island by the government. She added that this is something the residents have been waiting for and asked that the mosque work be completed soon as possible.
The mosque is being funded by the administration's PSP budget. The project is valued at MVR 13,947,943.70.
The mosque which will accommodate both men and women is to be completed and handed over within 365 days.
