Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid has arrived in Colombo, Sri Lanka on an official visit.

Minister Shahid will lead the Maldives delegation at the Fourth Session of the Maldives – Sri Lanka Joint Commission, which will be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka, today, 7 June 2023.

During this visit Minister Shahid will pay a courtesy call on Dinesh Gunawardena, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka and meet his counterpart, Foreign Minister M.U.M Ali Sabry.

The Maldives – Sri Lanka Joint Commission was established in 1984 with the primary aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries, including in trade & investment, defence, tourism, fisheries, education, health, employment, youth, sports and skills development, consular and cultural affairs.

Minister Shahid is accompanied by Ahmed Latheef, Foreign Secretary, Dr Hussain Niyaaz, Secretary, Economic Development, Dr Hala Hameed, Secretary, Bilateral, and Ms. Aishath Fareena, Assistant Director, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
