President Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that the citizens will only be at peace when the those who stole from the state would be brought to justice.

The President’s statement came during an MDP campaign event held at the capital city, Male’. Speaking during the event, he added that the 25 storey ‘Dharumavantha’ Hospital will be an everlasting sign of corruption and theft.

The President noted that USD 144 million was spent to develop the building, which had an actual cost of merely USD 54 million. In addition, that, USD 80 million was taken from the state budget for the development of the building, bringing its grand total to USD 220 million.

The President also shared details of the project, which was revealed to him by an advisor of the project.

As such, the President noted that the advisor had previously said that the actual cost of the development of the building would be USD 54 million upon seeing the bid for the project. The advisor had also sent several reports and documents regarding this to the President as well.

President Solih noted that his predecessor, President Abdulla Yameen was ousted because the citizens found it difficult to believe in such lies.

He stressed that they would be able to come to piece when such crimes are brought to justice.
