Maldives Police Service has warned against conducting any unlawful acts at the opposition's rally against the ruling on the maritime dispute between Maldives and Mauritius.

The opposition's rally is set to begin at 2030hrs at Carnival area.

In a statement released on Friday, Police said they will not allow any unlawful acts at the rally tonight. Police also revealed that they had received intel on such an act being planned at the rally tonight. As such, Police have urged everyone to abide by the laws and conduct a peaceful rally.

Police said the rally should be carried out in accordance to the 'Freedom of Peaceful Assembly Act' in the constitution.

Police added that the service will be active to maintain order in the area.
