Ministry of Higher Education has revealed that they will be providing student loans to 470 applicants who are pursuing pilot studies.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih announced on Wednesday night that the government will be providing student loans to 1,225 eligible applicants.
Speaking during a press conference at the President's Office today, Higher Education Minister Dr. Ibrahim Hassan stated that 479 students will be receiving student loans to pursue pilot studies. This includes 24 students who are continuing their studies.
The Minister noted that this was a record number, adding that this will bring a positive impact to the aviation industry in the Maldives.
According to the Minister, loans will be disbursed in seven different categories as well which includes Airport Maintenance License, Shipping License, Air Traffic Control License as well as MBBS.
Applications for the student loan opened on February 15th. A total of 1,507 students had applied by the deadline.
