Velana International Airport (VIA) has begun accepting Digital ID Cards for domestic travel.
Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) noted on Monday that they have begun accepting Digital ID Cards for check-in for domestic travel starting Sunday, 28th May after the digital ID cards were established by the National Center for Information Technology (NCIT).
MACL stated that their check-in counters will accept all documents accepted by the Directorate of Aviation Administration (DASA).
Other documents accepted by VIA for ticket purchase, check-in and security check are; Passports, National Identity Card or the Digital ID Card, Work Visa or the Digital Work Visa Card, License Card or the Digital License Card, Airport Security Pass, An official document issued by a government institution with a photo and ID card number.
All these documents will only be accepted before the expiration dates.
MACL noted that this move was a step forward in providing their services in a digitized network. They further noted that further work are being done to provide a smooth travel experience for their passengers.
