President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed that the Faafu Atoll Magoodhoo Airport will be developed to accommodate private jets.
Speaking at the inauguration of the water and sewerage network and the newly built administrative building of FENAKA Corporation on Magoodhoo Island, President Solih highlighted the previous state of Magoodhoo Island and the significant progress achieved during his tenure.
Regarding the development of Magoodhoo Island's airport, the President expressed that it would become one of the premier airports in the region. He highlighted several key developments, including establishing a VIP lounge, expanding the runway to 1800 metres to accommodate private jets, introducing a fuel farm to support flight operations, and providing parking spaces for private aircraft.
He also noted the construction of a dedicated hotel facility to cater to the accommodation needs of flight crew during layovers.
He further revealed ongoing negotiations with a potential partner to undertake the reclamation and development of a resort in the island's lagoon.
