Aasahara has been shut down for renovation, and burials will take place in Hulhumale' Cemetery, Male' City Council has stated.

In an announcement made on Friday, City Council said much needed renovations are to take place at Aasahara. As such, the cemetery has been shut down for two months for the project to be completed.

City Council said following this decision, burials will take place in Hulhumale' cemetery for the time being.

City Council also added that Aasahara Miskiy will be open during prayer times even with renovations ongoing.
