Prosecution ordered to present investigation files to the defense in Fuggiri Case

Criminal Court has ordered the prosecution to present the investigation files to the defense in the Raa Atoll Fuggiri Corruption Case.

Former President Abdulla Yameen is facing money laundering and accepting bribery charges regarding the leasing of Raa Atoll Fuggiri through the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).

Ahmed "Krik" Riza and Sun Engineering Company are also facing charges in the case.

During a hearing of the case held today at the Criminal Court, the defense noted that they would like to see the documents from the investigation files, as per the Supreme Court ruling which states that the defense should receive the files.

Riza's attorney also noted that they too would like to look at the files, and has submitted a letter to the AG.

The judge presiding over the case decided to present the defense with the files, and had ordered the state to make the necessary arrangements.
