Housing Minister Mohamed Aslam has stated that the Thilamalé Bridge Project is progressing despite delays.
The MInister made the statement in response to a question by Central Maafannu MP Ibrahim 'Bondey' Rasheed during the parliament session today.
Noting that progress on the bridge project remains virtually unseen, the MP quizzed the Minister about when the project will wrap up. He further highlighted that an additional USD 25 million was granted to the project to speed up the construction.
Answering the question, Minister Aslam acknowledged that there were delays in the project though he noted that work is still progressing forward. He also noted that the deadline for the project will not be extended.
India's Afcons Infrastructure who is tasked with the project had previously stated that the bridge connectivity from Villimale' and Gulhifalhu would be complete by 2023, and the full project would wrap up by November 2024.
