The escaped fugitive from Gaafu Alif Atoll Dhaandhoo Police Station has been apprehended again.
Police noted that the man escaped at 12:57am last night, after being arrested in a drug-related case.
A source from Dhaandhoo revealed to One Online that the fugitive is a 48-year-old male from the island, who had been accused and arrested for drug-related cases many times before.
Police noted that the man has been found and apprehended again, though no further details were provided.
Dhaandhoo Council President Mohamed Asif revealed to One Online that the man was found near the jetty area of the island. He was hiding in a boat under construction at the island’s boat yard.
A similar incident occurred earlier in the month where a man had escaped from the Rasdhoo Police Station. The man was remanded until the end of trial and was accused of using and trafficking drugs.
He was later located by police trying to swim away in the waters of a nearby resort.
