A man has been arrested after going to collect a postal package containing drugs.

The 28-year-old Maldivian was arrested on counts of smuggling drugs into Maldives, drug trafficking, and drug use.

Criminal Court issued a 10-day remand order for the man. Criminal Court order stated that the package he went to receive contained drugs and he also tested positive for drug use.

The man told Criminal Court that he went to receive the package on behalf of a friend and that he was unaware there were drugs in the package.
