Maldives National Party (MNP) President has stated that if the public demands it, he will impose death penalties on drug traffickers.

Speaking during the fourth episode of a Q&A program by the party, Nazim highlighted that drugs are the biggest challenge that the country faces today. He added that there were two options to solve the issue; closing off smuggling gateways and imposing death penalties on traffickers.

He stressed that imposing death penalties on drug traffickers are what he believes would work, adding that the rights of the entire society should be considered instead of just one individual.

Nazim noted that if the public demands for it, it will be added to their manifesto and implemented if he is elected President.
