Statistics published by the Maldives Police Service have revealed that 549 road accidents occurred during the first three months, which left 77 people injured.

As per the quarterly statistics released by the Police on Saturday, 519 of these accidents occurred in Malé. No fatal injuries were recorded during this period.

The highest traffic violation during the period was driving without a valid license, with 824 closes. Speeding came in second with 443 recorded cases.

According to the report, 10,617 stickers were also placed during the quarter. The most number of stickers were placed on motorcycles with 5,093 stickers, cars had 3,978 stickers, pick-ups had 853 stickers, vans had 475 stickers, jeeps had 107 stickers and trucks had 111 stickers.

The total number of vehicles towed during the time was 614, which includes 542 motorcycles, 40 cars, eight pickups, seven vans, 13 bicycles, and three battery cycles.
