Kaashidhoo Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Abdulla Jabir has been escorted outside the parliament chambers after having called on for the resignation of Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed.

MP Jabir had stated during a debate that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Speaker Nasheed should discuss with each other to solve the internal issues within MDP. However, he was triggered by the response of Speaker Nasheed to this.

He further added that he believes that Speaker Nasheed is someone who believes in democracy and values, though he has violated the rules of the parliament with his recent actions. He had advised the Speaker not to do such, and not to challenge the Presidency of President Solih.

Jabir had later caused pandemonium in the chambers, calling on for Speaker Nasheed to step down as the Speaker and to be just a member of the parliament.

He was escorted out shortly, after being advised to follow the parliament guidelines.
