State Minister at the Ministry of Environment, Hassan Mughunee has been dismissed from the position for calling President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih a thief.
The spokesperson at the President's Office, Miuvan Mohamed confirmed on Wednesday that Mughunee has been dismissed from the position.
His dismissal comes days after the President's Office had advised him after having tweeted alleging that the President is a thief.
In his tweet, Mughunee alleged that the President leads with a corrupt team of thieves who have no capability of leading any companies. He included several Managing Directors of State Owned Enterprises in his allegation.
Mughunee was the first Managing Director assigned to State Electric Company (STELCO). He was later transferred to the role of State Minister at the Environment Ministry.
Mughunee is part of Jumhooree Party, which is the ruling coalition of the government.
