Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has stated that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih should be removed from MDP.
Nasheed's statement comes after lawmakers belonging to MDP who support Nasheed's Fikuregge Dhirun have been facing several disciplinary actions for having violated the basic policies of the party by working with the opposition.
In a tweet from his unofficial Twitter handle 'Anehdhivehiraaje', Nasheed alleged that several people had worked against MDP candidates during the 2019 Parliamentary Elections, as ordered by the President.
Nasheed founded the Fikuregge Dhirun faction within MDP and began working against the President after an unprecedented loss in the MDP Presidential Primary, where President Solih emerged as the winner.
Lawmakers who support the movement have been working with the opposition lately, including trying votes of no confidence against Attorney General Riffath Ibrahim and Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid at the parliament.
They have also been threatening an impeachment of the President as well.
The members are now facing various actions by the MDP. As such, Central Henveiru MP Ali Azim who is seen on the frontlines of the movement had been dismissed from the party last night.
The party's PG Group is also seeking action against Hassan Latheef, Imthiyaz Fahmy, and Yasir Abdul Latheef.
