Test flight operated to HDh. Kulhudhuffushi airport prior to commencing scheduled night flights.
Regional Airports Company Ltd (RACL) which operates Kulhudhuffushi airport stated that night landing system has been installed in preparation to operating night flights.
RACL added that with the night landing system, the airport services can be given 24/7 and be developed further. RACL further added that this will also provide ease and convenience to the residents in nearby islands as well.
Additionally, night flights will also provide convenience in case of emergencies at night if a patient is required air transport, RACL said. The service will also benefit local tourism, RACL said.
Four out of the six airports operated by RACL now have scheduled night flights, including Faresmaathodaa, Fuvalmulah City, and Hanimaadhoo International Airport.
RACL stated that the company is working on installing night landing systems in HA. Hoarafushi and GDh. Maavarulu airports as well.
