A Maldivian has been arrested at Cochin Airport while trying to smuggle drugs.
Indian newspaper 'Asian News International' (ANI) Tweeted on Friday night that a Maldivian man named Yoosuf Fuad has been arrested trying to smuggle drugs inside a diaper he was wearing at the airport. The newspaper reported that he was arrested with 33 capsules of amphetamine.
The 325.5g of drugs are worth 40 lac Indian Rupees (MVR 747,901), ANI reported.
Yoosuf Fuad has been handed over to the Maldivian Embassy while investigation continues further. 'One' was unable to get a comment from police regarding the issue.
Foreign Ministry's media officer Safath Zahir told 'One' she will share further information after clarification.
