Tourist arrivals this year crosses 700,000 mark

Over 700,000 tourist arrivals have been recorded in the Maldives so far.

The Ministry of Tourism revealed that by yesterday, a total of 710,645 tourist arrivals were recorded. This marks an increase of 17.4 percent in comparison to the same period last year, where 640,730 arrivals were recorded.

The numbers before the Covid-19 pandemic stood at 667,729 in 2019, and marks a 6.4 percent increase from the 2019 numbers this year.

The Tourism Ministry also noted that the Chinese market share is increasing rapidly, and ranked among the 6th Top Source Market for the month of May with a market share of 4.7 percent.
