Managing Director of WAMCO Yoosuf Siraj has been suspended for influencing a sexual harassment case that the company was investigating.
A Press Release by the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) noted that Siraj had brought changes to the committee that was investigating the case. As such, he had removed the chairperson of the committee and appointed another to the position.
PCB revealed that Siraj has been suspended for two weeks since his acts were in violation of the Prevention of Sexual Abuse and Harassment Act and Corporate Governance Code. PCB suspended him without pay and allowances.
The WAMCO committee is investigating a case related to a former General Manager of the company. PCB further highlighted that the company's board had directed him not to get involved with the case since he was related to it, and that he had not followed their directions either.
Siraj was appointed as the MD last September, before which he was the Deputy MD.
