President of Maldives Reform Movement (MRM), Ahmed Faris Maumoon has stated that the party will compete at the Presidential Election on their own, if their values and principles are not met by others who wish to form a coalition with them included.
Faris made the statement in response to questions posed by One Online, following a meeting between MRM and MDP last Monday. The meeting which was held at MRM Office was focused on whether both parties could potentially work together at the upcoming election.
He noted that he is aware that the election draws near, though added that there were certain things he needed assurance on before making a final decision on their stand. He stressed that the values and principles of MRM will never be compromised.
When asked about whether competing alone at the election could draw a fruitful outcome, Faris highlighted that Maldivians too have certain values, and that they too would always think about the best for the nation.
Faris further revealed that discussions with both MDP and JP are still ongoing, with more meetings expected to take place soon.
