The administration is working on completing part of the 4,000 housing units project to ensure residence by August, Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail said on Friday.
Speaking at a press conference at the President's Office, Minister Fayyaz stated that at least 8 towers will be completed and habitable by August, and that the structure works on the towers will be completed by then.
The thirty-two 18 storey towers will include three elevators in each building and 8 residential units with commercial lots on the ground floors. The towers will also include parking slots around the towers as well.
The project has been contracted to two Indian companies - National Buildings Construction Company (NBCC) and JMC Projects. The companies will design, finance and construct 2,000 housing units.
