A man was arrested on Monday night for vandalising Vaavu Atoll Keyodhoo mosque.

The young man who was arrested had also torn up the Quran books at the mosque on two occasions.

Maldives Police Service revealed that they had received reports of a main window of the mosque being broken around 12:5am last night. They further revealed that a 27 year old man had been arrested in connection to the case, though they did not provide any further details.

Keyodhoo Council revealed that while many suspected him of having torn the Quran books at the mosque he was never formally charged.
