GDh. Hoadehdhoo Council has requested for water donations following shortage in the island.
Hoadehdhoo Council President Hussain Warish told 'One' on Thursday that the island has been facing a water shortage since before Ramadan and had already requested Fenaka on 26 March for water.
"We were informed we will be provided water within a week, and an additional 50,000 tonnes of water will be provided starting today," Warish said.
He added that the residents have been using rain water stored in the island but it has since run out as well.
At present, the residents are using rain water stored in the homes of some residents.
The island council announced today that any party wishing to donate water to the island can contact the council to make arrangements.
