Over 1,300 votes have been cast for the Guraidhoo constituency bi-election by afternoon.

Ballot boxes have been placed in Guraidhoo, Maafushi, Gulhi, and Izzudheen School in Male' City for the elections, with voting commencing at 0830hrs on Saturday morning.

Former Guraidhoo MP Riza's brother Hussain Riza is contesting for the seat under PPM ticket while MDP's Ibrahim Shaaz and MNP's Ali Areef are running for the seat as well.

With 3,423 eligible voters in the constituency, so far 694 women and 689 men have cast their votes.

According to the statistics released by Elections Commission, 40% of the voters registry have voted by 1300hrs on Saturday, amounting to 1,383 votes.

The bi-election polls will continue until 1600hrs.
