President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Friday called on farmers to safeguard and ensure public health by promoting safe agricultural practises, preserving the natural environment, and adopting organic farming methods instead of harmful fertilisers.
President Solih made the remarks in his message on World Health Day 2023, in which he spoke about marine conservation, especially in Maldivian waters, to ensure food security.
In his speech, President Solih highlighted the contributions and assistance of the WHO to the Maldives in promoting the healthcare sector since its inception, noting that World Health Day 2023 coincides with WHO's anniversary. President Solih also conveyed his gratitude to WHO on behalf of the government and the people of the Maldives.
Noting that World Health Day 2023's theme "Health for All" relates to promoting public health, President Solih also spoke about the need to enhance the public health sector in the Maldives. He added that the most significant healthcare sector achievements had been made through the country's public health services.
