The chemical warehouse recently discovered within Malé City has been vacated.

Chemical storage has been banned in Malé City since a fire in a chemical warehouse led to the death of a woman and displaced hundreds of people. Chemical storage is banned in Malé City and over a hundred chemical warehouses have been shifted to Thilafushi and Hulhumalé.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) said on Monday that an initial inspection has been completed on the chemical warehouse after a resident posted about the warehouse on social media.

MNDF said Police has been alerted on the illegal storage at the warehouse. "We are attending to this," MNDF said.

Police Media revealed to One Online today that the warehouse has been vacated and relocated to Hulhumalé.
